The Most Expensive isn't necessarily the best

Buying real estate in Lake Tahoe is much like other things you buy. You want it to have value, not just expense. Just because an offering is fabulously expensive doesn't mean that it is a wise choice. Resale considerations are important when you purchase will you be able to sell the property if you want to? Make sure you are getting your dollars worth in location, construction and details, not just paying a high price.

Real Estate is hopping and now is the time to buy at Lake Tahoe. If you are interested in buying a single family home for yourself and your family or you are looking for a second or vacation home Lake Tahoe wants you.

The economic insanity of the past few years has increased the number of houses available in the Lake Tahoe area and lowered the prices to 2004 or before. Short sales and REO's dominate and are driving the market prices down. So don't limit yourself to just bank owned or distressed properties look for what you want and make an offer.

Interest rates continue to be low and lower, so money is relatively inexpensive to borrow, in addition California qualifies for higher conventional loan amounts due to our overall higher housing prices, but what better place to live? To add to the incentives both Placer County (most of North Lake Tahoe) and Nevada County (Truckee)have first time buyer programs and occasionally redevelopment money available for the qualified buyer. (with great credit scores of course)
